Gusts of up to 40mph are set to batter north London later today (April 12), as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind.
The alert, which covers London, south-east England and south-west England, warned that strong winds would potentially cause some disruption throughout the day.
The forecaster added: “West or north-west winds are expected to increase during Wednesday morning, then remain strong for much of the day.
“Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds.”
The unsettled conditions have been caused by an Atlantic low-pressure system that is moving eastwards across the UK.
Strong gusts and rain are forecast to affect north London until the end of the week.
But the weather is then set to become drier and brighter over the weekend, with highs of 18C forecast for the start of next week.
