Plans to turn part of a large gym into 11 flats in Cricklewood have been submitted for approval.
The Manor Health and Leisure Club in Cricklewood Broadway currently occupies the ground and first three floors of the four and five-storey building.
Under new proposals submitted to Brent Council on May 9, the second and third floor of the gym would be converted into 11 self-contained flats.
Planning documents claim that this is possible because the pandemic “eroded membership” of the gym, resulting in it vacating these two floors at the end of last year.
It is intended that the ground and first floor of the building would continue to be used by The Manor gym. The new flats would have a separate entrance in Temple Road.
Under the current proposals, four two-bedroom flats and seven one-bedroom flats would be built on the site.
Each flat would have a bathroom, and an open plan area for the kitchen, dining room and living room.
An impact assessment of noise from the gym claims that “the existing insulation between floors will be sufficient to ensure noise from the gym does not penetrate the new residential flats”.
More details of the plans (reference 23/1635) can be found on Brent Council planning portal. The neighbour consultation is expected to end on June 7.
