Latest Camden eateries with low food hygiene ratings revealed

Four eateries were warned by inspectors from the environmental health team in Camden Council that its standards were not up to scratch between late July and August.

Petare

This includes Petare, a Venezuelan stall at Camden Market, which was inspected on July 24 and was given a score of 2/5, with ‘improvement necessary’.

The hygienic food handling needed ‘necessary’ improvement, while both the cleanliness and condition of facilities and management of  food safety were ‘generally satisfactory’.

The Duke of Hamilton

The Duke of Hamilton, an 18th century pub in New End, Hampstead, was also given a 2/5 rating with ‘improvement necessary’ on July 25.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’, while the management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’.

Ye Olde Swiss Cottage

Ye Olde Swiss Cottage, which was first built in 1830 in Finchley Road, scored a 1/5 and was told ‘major improvement’ was necessary on July 26.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’ and the management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’.

Guanabana​

Guanabana, on Kentish Town Road, was rated 1/5 and told ‘major improvement’ was necessary on July 28.

The hygienic food handling was rated ‘improvement necessary’, the management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities was ‘generally satisfactory’.

The Ham&High is keeping a monthly record of food hygiene inspections within Camden.

The food hygiene scores range from zero - meaning 'urgent improvement' is needed - to five, which is deemed 'very good'.
