A new delivery service means people in part of north London can get Waitrose groceries delivered in as little as ten minutes.
Deliveroo is expanding its Hop rapid delivery service with a new site in Regis Road, Kentish Town, which includes a delivery deal with Waitrose supermarket.
Shoppers can have products delivered in as little as ten minutes from 8am to 11pm, 7 days a week, including Waitrose’s ‘Duchy Organic’ collection of fresh fruit and vegetables.
New data from the online food delivery giant reveals the top-selling Hop grocery items across London since the start of the year includes bananas, avocados, chicken breast fillets, free range eggs, and sweetclem easy peelers.
Deliveroo first launched its Hop programme in 2021 to complement the company's existing on-demand grocery service, which already delivers from approaching 8,000 partner grocery stores in the UK&I - including Morrisons, Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Whole Foods in London.
Deliveroo's Hop differs from its Editions operation, which delivers hot food.
There was outcry in 2019 when Deliveroo Editions applied for permanent commercial kitchens and delivery centre with extract ducts, flues, air conditioners and vents at its site in Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage.
The delivery operator was running kitchens without permission for two years until Camden Council took enforcement action.
In March, following a protracted planning battle, it withdrew from Swiss Cottage.
Deliveroo is also opening a Hop site in Canning Town, east London, alongside Morrison's supermarket.
Carlo Mocci, chief business officer UK&I, Deliveroo said: “Hop has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2021.
"Its enduring popularity demonstrates the importance that our customers place on accessing fresh groceries, delivered straight to their doorstep.
"The success of the service has meant a further expansion across London and we are excited to build on our longstanding and successful partnership with Morrisons and Waitrose to expand our grocery offer to local residents.”
