Tulip Siddiq MP's favourite places in Hampstead and Kilburn

Earlier this year, the Boundary Commission decided to split Hampstead and Kilburn into separate constituencies.

The Labour MP for the area, Tulip Siddiq, described her sadness at the changes, claiming that Brent had a “special place” in her heart.

She has since vowed to continue serving her constituents in and around Kilburn until the next general election, adding that she was proud to have represented them.

We asked her what she likes so much about the constituency she has served since 2015, and which bits we are missing out on.

Why Hampstead and Kilburn?

I moved to Hampstead as a teenager because my mum had always loved the area and wanted to spend more time there. I never ended up leaving North London… and I’m now 41!

Best part of living here

Definitely the diverse and varied community – I love the fact that you can walk around my constituency and hear different languages being spoken at every corner.

Favourite spots to eat and drink

Too many to choose from, but I do love Villa Bianca in Hampstead, the Wet Fish Café in West Hampstead, Parlour in Kensal Rise and Ariana II in Kilburn.

Best place for a stroll

It’s a toss up between Hampstead Heath and Queen’s Park!

Any hidden gems?

David’s Deli in West Hampstead is always a treat, and the Alliance just up the road from it does a mean Sunday Roast.

Where to shop locally

Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market at the wonderful Salusbury Primary School is unbeatable for fresh fruit and vegetables.

Best day out

For my children, it’s the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre as they have a big (and noisy) soft play area, and then they can go to the library after or use the swimming pool!

Any favourite memories?

In 1998, I was volunteering in the Oxfam shop on Gayton Road in Hampstead and a very famous celebrity came in and gave the volunteers a cuppa.
