Temper is bringing its famous meat over fire concept to Paddington this month as they open a fifth restaurant.
Launched by Sam Lee in 2016 in a Soho restaurant centred around a fire pit, the popular steak house and barbecue chain has other locations in Shoreditch, the City, and Covent Garden.
From December 6 they will open their doors in Paddington Basin, serving sizzling aged steaks, smoked meats, and cocktails, inspired by the flavours of Latin America.
The fire pits and grills will be lit from noon to welcome guests from lunch through to dinner, with a menu including beef-fat cornbread with gochujang; caramelised spicy corn and aged beef nachos, and their signature tacos stuffed with the likes of goat's cheese or yellowfin tuna.
At the heart of temper’s offer is steak with cuts including porterhouse, picaña, and T-bone sourced from North Yorkshire farmer Charles Ashbridge and accompanied by sauces from beef-fat bearnaise and Korean barbecue, to bourbon pepper and chipotle sour cream.
Sides include hispi cabbage and beef-fat potatoes topped with melted garlic raclette or salt-baked beetroot with goat’s curd.
Where possible, temper buys in whole beasts, and butchers in house to minimise waste. Paddington will exclusively offer a take on the classic mixed grill: the temper Parrilla. Served on an Argentinian-style grill, it is designed for sharing and includes 28 day dry aged 500g steak on the bone, salt and pepper pork sausage, rare breed beef sausage, black pudding, smoked brisket and smoked pork chop with Provolone picante cheese, triple-cooked chips and house salad.
Mexican inspired cocktails include the Pepino Picante, with Verde mezcal, Momma's Margarita, and the Empirical Ayuuk, with apple agave, lime, cucumber and Tabasco.
The new 120 seat restaurant in a high rise complex overlooking the Grand Union Canal offers panoramic views, with colour tones inspired by glowing embers, polished wood, and leather furniture, and of course the open kitchen with stools for counter dining to watch the chefs at work.
An additional 70-seats on the terrace offer al-fresco dining year round.
Co-Founder, Sam Lee de Lagonell, said: “Since first launching, we have been setting the precedent of serving world-class meat, sourced in the most sustainable way possible. We don’t scrimp on quality, flavour or morals and this is exactly what visitors can expect when they come down to Paddington. To be opening in such an iconic and busy location marks a real milestone in our expansion."
Temper opens Unit 53, 5 Merchant Square, W2 on December 6.
