More headliners have been announced for All Points East 2024 with The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie lined up for a rare double gig in Victoria Park.
The August 25 event will be The Postal Service's first London appearance for more than a decade, and a special celebration of two era-defining American indie bands.
Marking two decades since the release of albums Give Up and Transatlanticism, the bands have joined forces for an unprecedented 20th anniversary co-headline tour.
It will head to London for the August show in the Tower Hamlets park, with Benjamin Gibbard, the co-founder of both bands, pulling a double shift performing with The Postal Service (with Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis), and Death Cab for Cutie alongside Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr.
Both iconic groups will perform their seminal 2003 albums in full.
Featuring Gibbard's sensitive, introspective lyricism, Death Cab for Cutie made an influential mark on the indie pop scene and helped define the emo genre of the early 2000s. They have released 10 studio albums including last year's Asphalt Meadows, which was hailed their best for years.
The Postal Service is made up of backing singer Jenny Lewis, Gibbard, and producer Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel. Gibbard and Tamborello first worked together in 2001 on a Dntel project, and continued to collaborate via the mail with Tamborello sending instrumental tracks and Gibbard adding guitars, vocals and lyrics.
The results were packaged into the group’s only album, Give Up, which achieved platinum status in 2003 and has since built a cult following.
News of the joint header follows the previously announced All Points East headliners Loyle Carner on August 17 and LCD Soundsystem on August 23 with more acts to be announced.
Started six years ago, UBER One presents All Points East runs over two long weekends in August in Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets, with each day a specially curated mini festival of exclusive performances and world renowned headliners.
Tickets for The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie are on AMEX presale and go on general sale on December 12 at 10am.
