A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder almost 40 years after a fatal attack outside a Tube station.
Antony Littler was killed aged 45 in an alleyway close to East Finchley station in 1984.
Mr Littler – who lived nearby in Leslie Road – was returning home from a night out when he was found with significant head injuries and pronounced dead.
It is thought Mr Littler was killed in a random attack and nobody has ever been charged as part of the police investigation.
Last week, officers launched a new appeal for information about his death, handing out leaflets to members of the public outside the Tube station.
Police confirmed yesterday (December 10) that they have now arrested a man on suspicion of Mr Littler’s murder.
He has since been bailed to a date in January pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “This arrest comes just four days after our latest appeal, and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward with information.
“However, we still need to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to Anthony's murder.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 020 8358 0100 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
