A gourmet Indian restaurant, a Korean barbecue restaurant and “London’s most Instagrammable café brand” scored some of the lowest ratings in recent food hygiene inspections.

Just three Camden borough eateries in the relevant areas of the Ham&High were found to be below-par by Camden Council’s environmental health team since the later half of December last year.

The Petite Corée, a Korean barbecue restaurant in West End Lane, West Hampstead, was rated 2/5 and deemed to need improvement after a visit on December 20.

While the hygienic food handling was considered ‘good’, and the management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’, the cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘improvement necessary’.

DAAKOO, another West End Lane restaurant, was also visited by inspectors on December 20. I was given a 1/5 score and told ‘major improvement’ was necessary.

The gourmet Indian restaurant was told that its management of food safety needed ‘major improvement’, while both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were rated ‘improvement necessary’.

Then EL & N, described on the St Pancras International website as “London’s most Instagrammable café” was also given a 1/5 score with ‘major improvement necessary’ after a visit on December 21.

Its management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’, while the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given ‘improvement necessary’.

The Ham&High is keeping a monthly record of food hygiene inspections within Camden.

The food hygiene scores range from zero - meaning 'urgent improvement' is needed - to five, which is deemed 'very good'.

To date, no other restaurants since December 20 up until January 10 were given low ratings. However this is likely to change when data published on the Food Standards Agency is updated:
