A man has appeared in court after an “antisemitic hate crime” outside a kosher shop in Golders Green.
Gabriel Abdullah, 34, of Hamilton Road, Golders Green, was remanded in custody after his appearance at Willesden Magistrates’ Court yesterday (January 30).
He has been charged with affray and possession of bladed article in a public place after the incident in Hamilton Road at around 1.30pm on Monday (January 29).
Officers were called to a kosher shop in the street after receiving reports that a man with a knife was shouting antisemitic abuse.
The force said the incident is being treated as a hate crime, but was not terror-related.
Additional patrols have been carried out in Golders Green over the past few months following rising tensions in the area over the conflict in Gaza, and the Met said more patrols will be added in light of this incident.
Abdullah will next appear at Harrow Crown Court, sitting at Willesden Magistrates’ Court, on February 27.
