A man was attacked and hit on the head with a baseball bat outside a pub.
Footage shared online shows the moment two men apparently tried to storm the Marquis Cornwallis pub on the corner of Marchmont Street and Coram Street, near Russell Square and a short distance from Euston station.
They were instead chased out by angry customers as at least one person could be heard yelling “he’s got a weapon”.
Police were called to the public house on Friday (February 9) at 9.45pm.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A man was assaulted outside the pub and was hit over the head with what is believed to be a baseball bat.
“The victim received treatment in hospital and his injuries have been declared as non-life threatening.”
No suspects have been arrested at this stage.
However the force said it is aware of footage circulating on social media and insists it is investigating.
The Metropolitan Police continued: “We acknowledge the concern this is going to cause among the community.
“Police are investigating the assault and are actively following a number of lines of enquiry.”
