Closures are set to hit a road near a popular nature spot to facilitate sewage works.

West Heath Road in Barnet, which is just off green space West Heath, bordering Hampstead Heath, is set to partially shut from 8am on March 11 this year.

This is expected to last for 19 days and Barnet Council has said the closure is necessary to allow a surface water and sewage connection to be built.

As a result, between 159 West Heath Road and the junction of West Heath Gardens will shut while the works take place under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The alternative route for motorists will be via Finchley Road, West Heath Avenue and another part of West Heath Road.

"At any time" waiting and loading restrictions will be introduced on the northeast and northwest side of West Heath Road.

This will be from a point 36 metres east of the southeastern kerbline of Finchley Road. It will also exist from a point six metres southwest of the common boundary of 157 and 159 West Heath Road.

Works are expected to end on March 29 this year.
