The Easter holidays are fast approaching and even if the cost of living crisis has pushed up the price of chocolate, everyone can get behind a good old fashioned egg hunt.
From activity trails to community events and theatre shows, there's plenty to do in North London over the holidays.
St John's Wood Hospice is starting early with an Easter Egg-Stravaganza over the weekend of March 23-24 in St John's Wood Church Gardens.
Participants get a map to search for bunnies hiding in the garden - with a chocolate prize at the end - plus face painting, arts and crafts, games, refreshments, and a ‘Guess the name of the bunny’ competition.
Tickets £5 (accompanying adults free) to raise funds for the hospice, and the Easter fun runs from 10am-4pm on both days.
Lauderdale House hosts a free Easter Trail around Waterlow Park, Highgate on Easter Sunday.
From 11am to 4.30pm you can collect a treasure map from the marquee on the Tea Lawn and follow a series of riddles and clues around the trail. There's a small chocolate prize for the first 100 to complete it. It's free to join in, but all donations to the arts centre are gratefully received.
Regent's Park is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 for older funseekers.
Gather at the Bandstand at 2pm for three hours of fun combining a traditional treasure hunt with clues and exhilarating games and challenges aimed at Londoners in their 20s and 30s.
A fast paced Easter Egg race with teams competing to find as many eggs as they can is followed by the main hunt, which involves decrypting clues to find secret locations in the park and complete a challenge designed to test your ingenuity, creativity, bravery and team work. Extra points for finding and catching the Easter Bunny and Chicken roaming around the park, with winners earning a chocolate Easter egg prize before heading down to the pub for a well earned drink and more games.
A free Easter event takes place in the award-winning private garden at The Hoxton Trust on March 30.
Hackney based charity My Choice Community is running the festivities from 12-3pm with games, food and Easter Eggs. Minimum donations of £5 are always welcome to support the charity.
Clitterhouse Farm in Cricklewood is holding a fun family Easter Egg-stravaganza event and Easter Egg Hunt on March 29.
Activities start at 11am at Clitterhouse Farm in Clitterhouse Playing Fields, Claremont Road, with an egg hunt, egg decorating, arts and crafts and a disco. As an added bonus there will be delicious food, coffee and tea available from the cafe.
Hornsey Vale Community Centre is also holding an Egg-stravaganza on Friday April 5.
Held at the community centre in Mayfield Road, family and friends are invited to enjoy a range of activities and games. They include Easter crafts, and the chance to meet the famous Peter Rabbit, who will be hopping around spreading joy before hunting for eggs in the local park at 2.30pm. Delicious treats from vendors and music throughout the day to celebrate the arrival of spring!
Patron Restaurant in Fortess Road Kentish Town is holding its annual Easter Egg hunt right now.
The clues have been posted on Instagram @patron and are made up of interesting information, unknown facts and history connected to local businesses who have provided the prizes.
The clues lead to a number of golden eggs hiding in each one of the businesses. Once you find the egg post a picture of it in front of its hiding place on Instagram. Tag @patronlondon and the business in which you found it to win a secret prize. In addition if you bring the egg back to the French restaurant there's another treat waiting for you.
Arts Depot in North Finchley has tonnes of fun shows on over the Easter holidays for children of all ages.
Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks' much loved book The Singing Mermaid comes alive on stage, there's beautiful puppetry in a tale of ambition in Dogs Don't Do Ballet, games and puzzles in live game show WiFi Wars, and a range of LEGO® themed activities with The Brick People.
Adventurous kids can shout out suggestions to The Showstoppers and they will improvise them into a musical, or there's a new fun filled family show from English Touring Opera about Victorian London and The Great Stink. Lastly Babette Cole's princess with a difference Princess Smartypants makes her way onto the Arts Depot stage.
Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has installed an indoor pop up space within the theatre grounds to stage a children's show Bear Snores On.
AndRunning from March 23 to April 21 and aimed at ages four and up, the 60 minute show has a book by Cush Jumbo and Katy Sechiari, music and lyrics by Harry Blake and is based on the beloved picture book by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.
Grab your backpack and join Mouse on a magical theatrical journey as she takes refuge from a brewing snowstorm in a nearby cave and discovers big brown and fluffy creature is already there.
