An Italian ice cream parlour is soon to open on the site of a Hampstead institution.
Badiani is to open its 14th shop in the capital at the former Polly's Tea Rooms site in South End Road, South End Green.
Work is understood to be underway to refurbish the former cafe, with a projected opening in June.
The store has a prime location opposite Hampstead Heath and the overground station.
The shop is replacing Polly's Tea Rooms, which went on sale in 2022 for £99,500, with 11 years left on the lease.
Founded in Florence in 1932 by Idilio Badiani, it is now run by his two sons, Paolo and Patrizio, and Orazio Pomposi, who the firm describes as the ‘gelato creative genius’.
The gelateria offers dishes gelato burgers and ice lollies, as well as a dark chocolate sorbet.
Badiani made its debut in London in 2015.
Locations for its shops include Angel, Notting Hill, Chelsea, Covent Garden, Mayfair, Canary Wharf, and Elephant & Castle and Balham in South London.
Badiani has been contacted for more information.
