A fine dining restaurant that has served rock royalty and the Primrose Hill community will be closing its doors after 46 years.

Odette’s has been serving people in Primrose Hill since 1978, and its fame grew after it was taken on by Bryn Williams, winner of The Great British Menu and husband of Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri, in 2008.

However the Regent's Park Road restaurant will be closing down this weekend, with its last day of trading on Saturday (May 25).

Writing to customers, Mr Williams said: “Sixteen years ago I bought Odette's restaurant in Primrose Hill, it's been my cooking home and I've loved every minute of it.

“Now, it's time to move on and explore new adventures so I have sold Odette's and our last day of trading will be this Saturday 25th May.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked with me at Odette's over the years and to all of our wonderful guests, many of whom have been with us from the start.

“I'm now excited to spend more time in my native Wales, and in particular North Wales, continuing to work on our bistro in Porth Eirias, as well as take on other exciting opportunities around North Wales and further afield.”

The Welsh chef, who won the chance to cook the fish course for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration on the BBC’s Great British Menu, had previously worked under Marco Pierre White at The Criterion, Michel Roux at Le Gavroche for three years, he was senior-sous at The Orrery in Marylebone for four years.

Bryn was chef patron of Odette’s after taking over the property in October 2008. 

He met Sharleen Spiteri when she visited Odette's in 2007. They got into conversation on the stairs as she had seen him on Great British Menu and married in 2018.

Mr Williams, who counts Kylie Minogue and Noel Gallagher among diners, also runs restaurants at Porth Eirias in Colwyn Bay, The Touring Club in Penarth and The Cambrian Hotel in Adelboden, Switzerland.
