An iconic Camden live venue is opening an open-air bar serving ice-cold rum slushies, as well as pizza and dumplings.

The all-new Camden Courtyard debuts behind Electric Ballroom in the heart of Camden Town on July 5.

Offering live music and DJs, street food and slushy cocktails for sunny evenings, the Camden High Street venue hopes to showcase "something new" and different.

The new open-air venue, with a capacity of 300 people, will be built on newly repurposed land in Kentish Town Road.

The courtyard sits behind the historic music venue, which opened 84 years ago as a popular Irish club, and has since hosted bands such as Snow Patrol and Blur.

Camden Courtyard and Electric Ballroom owner Kate Fuller said: "For the best part of a century, Electric Ballroom has been a venue which showcases the most exciting of musical movements and Camden Courtyard is the next step in our story.

"The venue will offer something new for Camden, an area that has surprisingly few open-air locations for drinking, dining, and dancing."

Ms Fuller added: "We’re working with a great selection of forward-thinking promoters, DJs and food & drink brands and we can’t wait to welcome new faces and regulars alike."

Fables Creative, which has designed stages at Gala, Gottwood, and Waterworks festivals, is responsible for the courtyard's design and build.

Following in the footsteps of Electric Ballroom, Camden Courtyard promises a variety of live acts, bands, and sounds.

The venue has been fitted with a Martin Audio sound system and already has a music programme planned for the summer, including events from techno specialists FreeFromSleep, daytime garage party organisers UKG Brunch, and fitness community Midnight Runners.

Street food firm Pizza & Dumplings will provide nourishment for partygoers with Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas and Gyozo dumplings.

Rum-laden slushy frozen cocktails will be served from Wray & Nephew, with Aperol spritz, Pimms cocktails, pitchers and a beer menu rounding off the drinks selection.
