Tulip Siddiq officially launched her campaign to become the MP of the new Hampstead and Highgate constituency alongside London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
The 41-year-old, who was the MP for the soon-to-be-scrapped Hampstead and Kilburn seat, spoke to supporters at Swiss Cottage Library yesterday evening (May 30).
She was joined at her campaign launch by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who recently won re-election for a third term.
Siddiq, who has represented the area for the past nine years, said that she would be fighting for every vote in Hampstead and Highgate.
She added: "It was a pleasure to kick off my election campaign with our fantastic Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and so many brilliant Labour councillors and activists.
“After 14 years of Conservative failure, it's time to end the chaos. Only a Labour Government can bring the change that Britain needs.”
So far, it has been confirmed that four other candidates will contest the seat, including Conservative candidate Don Williams.
Scott Emery will stand for the Liberal Democrats, Catherine Becker for Reform UK and Ghias Ahmed for the Workers Party of Britain.
The official full list of candidates is expected to be published on June 7, ahead of the general election on July 4.
