Several Northern line stations will be shut for two additional days this year as work is carried out.
Earlier this year stations were shut between Golders Green and Edgware on the Northern line from April 2 to 11, leaving hundreds waiting for long periods for replacement buses.
It was the first of a series of planned closures as Colindale station is rebuilt – with no trains stopping at Golders Green, Brent Cross, Hendon Central, Colindale, Burnt Oak or Edgware.
Initially, further closures were scheduled from June 8 to June 9, June 15 to June 16, June 29 to June 30 and July 27 to July 28.
Now Transport for London (TfL) has added two new closure dates on the Edgware branch – July 25 and July 26.
Colindale station itself has now served its last train for a while as it closed today (June 7) and isn't set to reopen until December.
TfL announced last year that £43.1million from the government’s Levelling Up Fund has been allocated to upgrade both Colindale and Leyton stations, meaning they will have step-free access for the first time.
It said Colindale station, in its current state, was projected to reach passenger capacity by 2026.
Under the new plans, the 1960s entrance will be replaced with a new building, spacious ticket hall and step-free access.
It added Colindale is “one of London’s most deprived areas” and the redevelopment will be “central” to enabling the building of 11,400 new homes for people in the area.
In May, TfL said that “lessons have been learned” after complaints of long waiting hours for replacement buses, and it set out a series of planned changes.
Further improvements were announced, with an additional NL6 bus route running every 15 minute at peak times on weekdays between Colindale and Hendon Central.
All journeys on the route will be free of charge, while any journeys taken on the 186 between Mill Hill Broadway and Hendon Central will be auto-refunded.
