Six people have been arrested after pro-Palestinian protests and counter-protests in Kentish Town last week.

Camden Police said that four people were arrested on Thursday (June 6) at a protest outside Kentish Town Tube station.

It follows two arrests at the same protest the day before.

Two people were arrested on Thursday evening on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and two others were arrested on suspicion of common assault.

On Wednesday, one person was arrested on suspicion of common assault and another was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

A pro-Palestinian protest has been taking place since Monday, with counter-protestors gathering nearby in the evenings.

Acting Camden Chief Inspector Stevie Bull said that police would always respect the right to protest, but that since Wednesday, a number of people’s behaviour “crossed into criminality”.

He added: “We recognise the impact that the attacks in Israel and subsequent military action in Gaza have had on people here in London, in particular in Jewish and Muslim communities where fears and concerns are heightened.

“Nevertheless, it is important that protest remains lawful.

“Officers will be deployed in the area around the station until the conclusion of these protests, keeping opposing groups apart and dealing with any offences.”
