An NHS trust that runs hospitals in Hampstead, Barnet and Enfield has laid out its priorities for the next five years.

The Royal Free London NHS Trust has announced its strategy to deliver "world-leading healthcare" and meet increasing demand for services.

It has set out new clinical priorities intended to reflect the needs of the patients it cares for.

Barnet Hospital, in Wellhouse Lane, Barnet, will concentrate on supporting the needs of an ageing population and transforming same day and integrated care.

Chase Farm Hospital, a centre for planned surgery for patients across north central London in The Ridgeway, Enfield, will focus on developing different types of surgery and focusing on early diagnosis and prevention through group clinical services.

The hospital currently provides procedures such as ear, nose, and throat surgeries, and their priorities for the next five years include focusing on early diagnosis and prevention through the group clinical services.

The Royal Free Hospital, in Pond Street, Hampstead, meanwhile, plans to establish a national centre of academic and clinical excellence for rare diseases.

It will work with partners to reduce chronic diseases and improve patient outcomes.

The trust has also identified cancer, cardiovascular healthcare and organ failure and transplantation as three group-wide clinical priorities.

Group chief executive Peter Landstrom said: "Our Royal Free London (RFL) clinical strategy has been put together thanks to the brilliant hard work of so many colleagues across our organisation.

"I think it really talks to who we are at the RFL, capturing both the collective and unique identities of our sites and services, but also unapologetically setting real ambition for the future.

"This sets our vision for bringing world class expertise and local care together – allowing us to improve the lives of so many people across the communities we serve."

The strategy was created from insights gathered from clinicians, staff, various NHS organisations, borough partners, and other stakeholders, reflecting the collaborative efforts to prioritise patient needs.

The Royal Free London NHS Trust was rated as 'requires improvement' by the Care Quality Commission. It was last inspected in 2021.
