Think New York-style pizzas, in London, with queues to get a table they’re that good – and then you’ll have one of Marylebone’s newest spots – Alley Cats.
Alley Cats is on the corner of 22 Paddington Street and Chiltern Street in Marylebone and is part of The Noble Restaurant Group UK.
It serves freshly baked 14 inch pizzas, slices, salads and desserts, and has a really American-diner feel inside the restaurant, with a big screen playing films.
Alley Cats recently announced a collaboration with viral butter brand, All Things Butter, founded by chef Thomas Straker – which is available until June 30.
As part of the collab, Alley Cats has introduced Burnt Red Chilli Butter, which will be featured in the new, limited edition All Things Butter x Alley Cats Dough Balls starter.
Alley Cat’s Head Chef Francesco Macri and Thomas Straker have worked together on this limited-time serve which features All Things Butter’s rich, salted butter infused with confit garlic, burnt red chilli, fresh parsley, parmesan, lemon zest, and black pepper.
The butter is sourced directly from a farm based just outside Glastonbury, and is traditionally batch churned and hand salted to achieve the highest quality. The chillies for the butter are then charred off in Alley Cats’ pizza oven.
I obviously couldn’t pay a long-awaited visit to Alley Cats without trying the new collab, and I can assure you it was as good as it sounds.
I had the dough balls for starter, and my friend had the bacon, and we both shared the green superfood salad to make ourselves feel a little bit better about the whopping pizzas we were about to demolish.
I picked the vodka sauce one which a friend had recommended which comes with mozzarella, and my friend chose the white-based wild mushroom pizza.
And WOW – they were really good, as good as they looked and as good as they tasted.
Big, perfectly cooked, oozing with flavour, and giving off that American-style feel, we really couldn’t get enough of it and enjoyed sharing the two – and we even had enough to take home in one of the huge takeaway boxes to enjoy the following evening as well.
Other menu highlights include smoked pepperoni, fennel sausage, alongside the vegan fire.
The restaurant has a unique style, led by head chef Francesco Macri with features exposed concrete walls, gingham tablecloths, and a cosy, upcycled church pew-style seating, offering a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary dining.
All Things Butter is a British butter brand launched by chef Thomas Straker and Toby Hopkinson, set to disrupt the dairy industry and shine a spotlight on the versatility of the product to elevate everyday dishes.
The brand was born after the phenomenon of the social series ‘All Things Butter’ took off across chef Thomas Straker’s TikTok account, where he explored the unique ways to enhance recipes using butter.
If you’ve got some time to queue, and a big appetite for pizza, Alley Cats should be next on your go-to list.
