A man who drunkenly attacked cars on a busy road with a windscreen wiper was fined.

Police were called at 3pm on June 16 to reports of a man acting erratically in the High Road, North Finchley .

Officers who attended found a man attacking cars on the road with a windscreen wiper, Scotland Yard said.

He was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and was given a penalty notice for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

A video was posted on X on June 19, showing a man brandishing something in his hand.

The Met received a lot of praise on the social media site by people commending their speed at apprehending the man.

A Met Spokesperson said: "We are aware of a video circulating that states the wrong date and that the man was wielding a machete, this is inaccurate."
