Whether it’s a relaxing brunch, a spot for a coffee or what I’d say is the best cupcake around, Lola’s Bakery is your place.

The Lola’s Bakery in West Hampstead is in a popular spot on the high street, with a relaxed feel to escape from the busy main road.

Its Coeliac Society accredited so there is something for everyone, and a new summer menu which has fresh options for any time of the day.

The all-day brunch menu at Lola’s Bakery has everything from egg dishes to blueberry pancakes and is available until 3pm on weekdays and 4pm on weekends.

The brand-new summer lunch additions include whole grain tortilla wraps filled with roast chicken with sundried tomato mayo, lettuce, and fresh tomatoes; falafel and sweet potato hummus with a hint of fresh mint; and goat’s cheese and avocado with pesto mayo.

A new freshly made bagel filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese; a roast beef open sandwich and a roast vegetable open sandwich have also been added to the menu.

Lola’s Bakery also has a range of delicious salads made in the kitchen using only the freshest seasonal ingredients.

I went for an early Saturday brunch to meet my friend who I haven’t seen in a while, and it was great to catch up over good food.

The West Hampstead bakery has seating on the ground floor, counter seating, and a basement conservatory-style area for eating as well.

We both chose to go for eggs, myself with avocado and my friend with smoked salmon, and both with toast.

The ingredients were good quality, and our meals had been freshly made.

We enjoyed an array of hot drinks, smoothies and soft drinks to sip while we chatted away.

The best was saved until last though when for dessert we picked from a massive range of delicious cupcakes and cakes in Lola’s Bakery counter that are freshly prepared every day.

They’re free from artificial colours and include a large gluten free and vegan offering.

With red velvet cake, banoffee cupcakes and the famous vegan and gluten-free chocolate fudge cake on the menu, it was a difficult choice, and admittedly boringly we both went for vanilla. Myself, a pink version, and my friend a buttercream version.

Sometimes plain is the best way and they were so moist, creamy, light, airy and all-round delicious.

The best part is that happy hour between 5pm and 6pm gets you 50% off baked goods on the counter – a perfect excuse to indulge!
