Six candidates are vying for a place on Camden Council after a councillor became an MP at his second attempt.

Danny Beales resigned his Camden Square seat after winning the Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat in the general election on July 4.

A by-election date has now been set for September 5.

Mr Beales served as Camden Council's cabinet member for new homes, jobs and community investment.

He won a 587-vote majority to win the Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat on July 4 after narrowly losing a by-election in July 2023 following the resignation of former MP Boris Johnson.

By beating Conservative candidate Steve Tuckwell, he won a seat the Tories have held for more than 50 years.

The successful candidate will join Labour's Cllr Sagal Abdi-Wali.

The candidates, in alphabetical order, are:

Esmeralda Apoke - Conservative.

James Dicker: The Green Party.

Tricia Leman: Labour.
