A future second entrance to a Tube station is still planned alongside work to build 1,800 new homes nearby.
Documents in a report to TfL's board confirm the transport body was able to secure land for a future new entrance to Finchley Road station as a planning condition for the redevelopment of the O2 shopping centre.
The scheme, which will see 1,800 new homes built by developer Landsec near Finchley Road, was granted planning permission last year.
At the time, Landsec agreed to contribute £10 million to improve local transport in the area, including providing step-free access at West Hampstead station.
Other improvements that will be carried out as part of the O2 redevelopment include £1.5 million for upgrades to A41 at Finchley Road, and new bus stands within the site.
TfL adds that £2 million was also secured for Camden Council to improve the walking and cycling network in the area.
The report adds: “We have also secured the removal of the retail car park at this site, freeing up space for better public realm and active travel facilities.”
Work has not yet started on the O2 development site, with Landsec confirming that the centre itself and a large part of the car park “will remain open for several years to come”.
The developer added that it is yet to finalise the timetable for “bringing forward” the development.
