A new Aldi supermarket in Muswell Hill is set to open before the end of this year.
Ham and High previously revealed that the budget chain was eyeing up the former Poundland in Muswell Hill Broadway as a potential new site.
At the time, Aldi had submitted a licensing application to Haringey Council to sell alcohol at the site.
The discount supermarket has now revealed that the Muswell Hill store is one of 23 that it aims to open before the end of this year.
Another location in London set to open in the next 16 weeks is a store in Leytonstone.
Aldi has also promised that a supermarket in Holloway Road will open “soon” – with work at the site of a former Pret a Manger already under way.
It comes as the budget chain announced that it plans to spend £800 million to ramp up expansion across the UK.
Aldi is currently Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket with more than 1,020 stores – but it aims to add around 500 more in the coming years.
A further 100 shops are set for a revamp as part of the record investment plans.
Giles Hurley, chief executive of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “For every £1 of profit generated last year, we’re investing £2 this year – opening more stores and building the supply infrastructure to bring high-quality, affordable groceries to millions more families the length and breadth of Britain.”
