A former DIY superstore is set to be demolished as part of plans to build 1,800 new homes.
Subject to council approval, the old Homebase store next to the O2 Centre in Finchley Road will be pulled down in late October.
Clearing the site will take place ahead of reconfiguration of the shopping centre’s car park, which will see the number of spaces reduced from 520 to 200.
The first phase of the redevelopment will see around 600 homes built at the centre of the site, where the former Homebase store and hundreds of car park spaces can be found.
A public meeting on the demolition plans with developer Landsec and its contractors is planned for next Thursday (September 26).
Local people, businesses and community groups have been invited to attend the event, which will take place at 6.30pm at the O2 Centre.
The demolition contractors are expected to explain how disruption will be kept "to a minimum” and answer questions from the community.
In total, 1,800 new homes will be built on the O2 Centre site, as well as shops, a supermarket, cinema and gym.
