Wingate & Finchley manager Marc Weatherstone is expecting a "challenging" weekend as they face both Corinthian Casuals and local rivals Haringey Borough.
The Blues will welcome the Casuals to the Maurice Rebak Stadium on Saturday before then making the short trip to Coles Park Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday (August, 30) to face Tom Loizou's Haringey Borough.
Corinthian Casuals have lost their opening two matches while Borough have sealed one victory and suffered one defeat in the opening two weekends.
But the boss will be hoping his new-look squad can build on the win over Leatherhead last weekend as they look to get themselves off to a bright start in the Isthmian Premier Division.
“We have two challenging games coming up in Corinthians and Haringey, but I’m very confidant with this bunch of boys that we can come away with positive results,” Weatherstone said.
Wingate & Finchley sealed a 90th minute win over the Tanners thanks to Sam Hatton at Fetcham Grove.
Bilal Sayoud opened the scoring for the Blues in the sixth minute of play but his effort was cancelled out by the hosts Bayley Mummery in the 54th minute.
Hatton then made it 2-1 in the final minute to seal the victory for Wingate much to the delight of new manager Marc Weatherstone.
“It was very pleasing to get three points on the board. Ahmet Rifat and I along with the management team have been working extremely hard this week to turn our fortunes around from the game against Margate.
“To see us get a last minute winner, it couldn’t get any better. The game wasn’t pleasing on the eye as it was a scrappy game compared to last week, and there was limited chances on both goals.
“That’s football, every game will be different, but I'm so happy with the work rate the boys are giving us.”
Wingate will be hoping to be well clear of danger this season after threatening with it in recent seasons.
A strong start to the campaign will be vital as it can build confidence and momentum amongst the squad to have a good season.
